Job Responsibilities
Corporate lawyer specializing in mergers & acquisitions.
Currently billing about 75 client-billable hours per week but at
some point this will drop down as Japan still has a relatively
small M&A market with high peaks and low valleys.

Job Requirements
Great program with a poor reputation outside of New Mexico/four
corner states. I was able to enter a top-tier firm due to my
good grades, Japanese language ability, and Japanese investment
banking experience.
|
Uppers
As an overseas lawyer, I receive ex-patriot treatment which means housing and
other costs are covered by the firm. The M&A industry can be hectic but it's
also exciting to be on the forefront of a changing corporate landscape.
|
Downers
Laywers are generally busy, Japan is even busier and throw on top
of that M&A deals and you find yourself with very little personal
time.
|
Lifestyle
Dress code is Wall Street - this is Japan and M&A. Currently, immensely busy,
but new hires will bring relief.
|
Compensation
$155,000 base
up to $42,500 bonuses
$18,000 currency supplement
$40,000+ rental supplement
utilities
