Job Responsibilities
As a medical officer incharge of the maternal and child health
clinic, I have to examine and screen all the 1st time pregnant
mothers for any risk (so that I can detect early n refer them to
the referral hospital for future followup), see all the refered
case by the staff nurses in charge of the antenatal
clininc, examine postnatal mothers with their newborn, examine all
walking in patient/child(1 - 5yrs) into the outpatient clininc
and also examine all the referred case from the staff nurses in
charge of the growth n development clinic. I work from 8am to 5pm
from Monday to Friday.

Job Requirements
I did my MBBS degree from Bangalore university,India for 4
1/2years.We need to work very hard n very dedicated to complete
the course. 1st year, doing the anatomy desection was awesome and
interesting start along with physiology n biochemistry. 2nd year
with the pharmacolgy, microbiology and pathology make it feel
like the going is getting rough. 3rd year`s subjects were
ENT,Opthamology and community medicine. 4th year introduce u to
the real world of medicine, with medicine, surgery and obstetric &
gyneacology. It gets interesting once we started to enter the
hospital for clinical practice as u start to feel a bit like a
doctor. Once you pass the final exam 1 year of internship which
makes you feel why did I choose to do medicine. Internship is the
toughest year for all the medical doctor`s life.

Uppers
As the primary health care provider, it's often good that we can detect any risk
involve with the pregnancy n refer early to the referral hospital. The best part
of the job is when patient go thru uneventful pregnancy and delivery and comes
back with healthy baby.

Downers
The workload is alot n makes the time spend with each patient very little.

Lifestyle
As I work only from 8am to 5pm every Monday to Friday, I still can enjoy and
spend time with my family on weekends. No dress code for lady doctors, but for
the male doctors a tie is a must.

Compensation
The basic salary 10640 USD, critical allowances 1900 USD, house allowances 900
USD, plus other allowances
900 USD. Other benefits, like maternity leave for 2
months, annual leave for 30 days per year. Bonuses of sometimes 1 month salary,
depending on the economy, per year.
