Job Responsibilities
Maintain and repair as required all of the automated euipmentthat is a part of the computerized shipboard propulsion and cargo equipment. This is to include the computerized main engines wiht all the sensor that provide the neccessary information for the porper operation of the main diesl propulsion engines. Additionally you are responsible for the maintainance of the ship's radar equipment including the "Collision Avoidance Radar".
Job Requirements
There is no single preparatory course for this position. Generally, you start at the entrance level (wiper) then after obtaining additional training (union schools, community college electrical courses) you advance to 2nd Electrician. After an apopropriate period of time and experience you are advancewd to Chief Electrician, from here you can obtain additional electronics training from factory schools, union schools or community college electronics courses. If dessired can lead to an engineering position as 3rd, 2nd 1st. and Chief Engineer.

Compensation
As a non licensed person you can earn in excess of $70 - $80 K per year. As a licensed engineer up to $200,000+ as a Chief Engineer.
