Ensuring the mechanical integrity and safe operating runlengths
of plant equipment. Implementing dedicated plant condition
monitoring schemes and condition-based assessments and making
sure that equipment trending being carried out proactively and
analysed for continued and safe operations.

Job Requirements
Good potential for mechanical engineers with material science
background, with sound experiences with welding processes, non-
destructive testing methods, and metallurgy.

Uppers
Specialised in plant troubleshooting with regards to equipment failures due to
materials degradation and corrosion mechanisms. A very specialised field in
oil/gas whether upstream or downstream.

Downers
Gets to see hugh datas and details. Getting into systems and
working with vendors through the various upgrades/versions.

Lifestyle
May have call-outs at odd hours due to equipment failures. Need to be good at
quick-fix solutions for short term; to have good grasp of various options capable
by different service providers. Be resourceful with technical competence and
engineering details and must be prepared to negotiate best way forward with
higher management and regulatory authorities with regards to reasonably and
generally acceptable good engineering practices. Gets to travel quite a bit to
plant locations and good mix with industry experts.
