Job Responsibilities
Take inward call center calls for major credit card company. We answer any questions a customer has about their credit card and terms. The job is very repetitious but you are required to be able to handle multiple programs simultaneously. LLots of patience and effective listening is quality you will have to have. Ability to retain a TON of information about credit accounts, terms , calculations and more patience to speak with customers are required. 40 hour work weeks. weekends and holidays required.
Job Requirements
College degree-preferred but sales skills will preside over degree. there are alot of employees that do not have degrees.
Uppers
benefits are great but have been cut back with merger with Bank of America. Pay is great, but again, I assume many more cuts will be rolling in throughout the 2006 year with merger.
Downers
Sales is a big aspect of the company's success. the pay is great but when you put sales and money together the end result often is not "doing the right thing" for the customer.
Lifestyle
no business travel, strict break and lunch schedules. majority of workforce is between 22 and 40. dress code is business dress. mbna likes to hire women and minorities. 40 hour work weeks and new hires usually start with the most unfavorable schedules. weekends and holidays are required.
Compensation
Base salary is about $26-28K. incentive is offered each month with a potential up to $1200. the average incentive payout is about $400-500. quarterly bonus is offered which has been from $100-200 if company success is exceeded. 401k-medical, dental, vision and addtl benefits offered. on-site day-cares but you will have to pay for that. The daycare facilities are run by an outside company and they do a FANTASTIC job with the kids. In- house cafes and abbreviated gift shops with dry-cleaning and florist services.
Advice to Jobseekers
There is opportunity for prmotion to many different departments. At the same time you are also getting an education on finances in our country and hopefully you will take the knowledge with you about your own finances. You really have to good in sales. You will grow a "thick-skin" as we say...because you will speak with all kinds of people with all kinds of personalities, good and bad. you also need to be empathetic and a caring person to understand the problems these people are having financially and personally. there is alot more to the job then answering the phone call. 4 interviews will be required. make sure to read about the company thru their website. prepare-prepare and "sell yourself" to the interviewee! they will ask-"why should we chhose you?".
