Downers
College students are sometimes not focused on their studies and are sometimes disruptive and disrespectful to faculty, as well as expecting grades to be assigned to them if they have what they consider a 'valid excuse' for not oding the work or attending classes. Schools owned by for-profit entities do not tend to invest in or try to retain staff, adopt attitudes that 'someone will be available who needs the money.'
Lifestyle
Dress code is casual. there is no travel unless one teaches on branch campuses around the City. Most duties are completed in a four day work week, monthly Friday work days. Seven weeks off during the calendar year (paid pro rata base pay during weeks off).
Compensation
Salary is not the best part of the job. About $47k annually for eight classes, which change every 15 weeks. Base salary for six courses is $39k. Basic health care coverage, 401k available. No bonuses.
Advice to Jobseekers
Try to have more than one employer, as salary growth is little to none. Do not try to make a living from a career at one employer of this type.
