Job Requirements
Education was high school diploma, approved nursing course, usually 12 months,
then certification through state boards.

Uppers
taking care of people in need, rich, poor, black, white. To matter, the fact
that you have done something to help a person who is helpless in an unfamiliar
surrounding, made them feel at home, a part of your day, your hospital, makes me
feel worthy.

Downers
Sometimes when you are very busy, you don't have time to spend
with everybody, especially if you have many patients. but I try
to see each one as often as I can, apologize for not being there,
you cannot be with 10 or 12 people all the time. just try to make
them feel special whenever you can.

Lifestyle
The hours are too lomg, 12 hours a person cannot be efficent. but you know you
have to, just try to catch a moment or two to rest, then go on. the dress code is
uniforms, not hard to do.

Compensation
The salary is pretty good, the insurance benefits are fair, the
bonuses are really good. I have just gotten into the stocks, not
much to say there.

Advice to Jobseekers
You have to have a good heart and strong stomach. the job
requires you to be honest, I have always been, and willing to
help each other, you are family here, the good times and bad.
nursing is a wonderful field to go into, I wish I had gone
further in my education while I was young, but years of working
to raise my family, money was tight, I could not afford to. Now I
am older, worn out, unable to work, but I would not have done
anything different if I had it all to do over again.
