Job Responsibilities
My major responsibilities are as follows:-
a)To ensure that all meters for customers consuming over 7000Kwh
per month are always in good working condition.
b)To ensure that the meters for the above category of customers
are properly read and bills generated in time.
c)To carry inspections and connection of new installations to
the national grid.
NB:All above tasks are supervisory.

Job Requirements
To carry out the above tasks one is required to have at least a
higher (advanced) diploma in Electrical Engineering.These are
provided in the national technical institutes which are currently
well equipped and have very qualified teaching staff.
It's also necessary to have done the basic computer packages and
some managerial courses.All these are available in the above
institutes

b)It is easy to convert to private practice in future.
c)Remuneration is above average compared to other engineering fields.

a)There are more occupational hazards eg risks to electrical
shocks and related accidents.
b)There is stiff competition in occupying the few available
places in the industry - hence requires hard work to have extra
qualifications as indicated earlier.

Lifestyle
Working hours is normal - 8.00am - 5pm, dress code is formal except when one is
going for some field work when a dust coat may be necessary.
Once or twice in a year there is always an opportunity to travel out for some
training or seminar.
In this position one meets a cross-section of the company's customers and hence
it's imperative to be well groomed and be of good conduct, high integrity and
honesty.

Compensation
Base salary = Ksh.100,000.00pm (USD 1500.00).
House allowance= Ksh.40,000.00pm(USD 600.00).
Car maintenance allowance=Ksh.35,000.00pm(USD 550.00).
Medical allowance(out & In-patient)=Ksh.350000.00p.a.(USD 4700.00).
The company is listed on the local stock exchange and the company
has a section that facilitates easier acquistion of shares for
interested employees.
NB:On merit,there is an annual increment of 10% on base salary.

field and one needs to be thoruoghly prepared as earlier
indicated.
Kenya being a young economy, the potential in this field is
