Job Responsibilities
I match invoices that have been submitted to accounts payable
with copies of checks. I staple the checks and invoices
together, fold them, and then file them. I also answer the
phone, sort mail, run errands, make photocopies, etc.

Job Requirements
My master's program in community counseling is preparing me to
pass the State of Ohio lisencing boards in counseling so that I
can work in the community as a counselor. Once I have passed my
boards I can work in mental health centers, substance abuse
treatment facilities, marriage and family counseling, private
practice, etc. There are a lot of job options for people with a
master's degree in community counseling.
I have never had difficulty registering for classes that I want
to take. All of my professor's are extremely knowledgible in
their area and are excellent at communicating their knowledge to
their students. All of the hands on training that the
counseling students receive in their classes and during
practicum ensure that they are very skilled and comfortable when
they graduate and begin working in the community.
The workload of the classes is the community counseling program
at Kent State are very managable. I have no problem working and
taking a full load of classes every semester. Overall, I think
the program is great and really enjoy the classes and professors
that I have had.

Uppers
There is absolutely no stress. I can listen to music and check my email
throughout the day.
|
Downers
The work is completely mindless and super boring. Unless I have
a lot of work today each day I am constantly looking at the
clock praying that it is almost time for me to leave.
|
Lifestyle
I only work in the mornings four days a week. This allows me to take classes
every afternoon/evening. Since I am a student worker I don't have to travel and
can wear whatever I want to work. The job is very casual and that is nice. The
pay sucks and it is really, really boring.
|
Compensation
Because this is a student job I get paid $6.00/hr. I am
eligible for a raise after one year. I don't get bonuses,
benefits, stock options, health insurance, a tution break, etc.

Advice to Jobseekers
The job is fine while you are in school and taking classes
because it is flexible and easy. You have to be registered as a
student to qualify for the position which means that there is no
job outlook once a person graduates. No one would want to do
that job for more then a few years while in school.
