Job Responsibilities
Analyze circuit provisioning and find a cheaper way.
Uppers
I like solving problems and this company has a lot of problems.
Downers
The worst part was the details. As well as cleaning up after others.
Lifestyle
If you know someone high up in company, you are OK. If you just do a good job, watch out. It is very political.
Compensation
The base salary isn??t bad, but this company wants to keep it as low as possible. There are so many equipment engineers in the market that this company will hire someone that is a little hungrier rather that give a decent wage increase.
Advice to Jobseekers
The market is overfull right now. Nortel and Lucent have lain off hundreds of qualified people. Bellsouth and NYNEX are also downsized. In 2000 you could go anywhere in the country if you could call yourself an Equipment Engineer. As of this morning, there was one opening in PA and another in Northern CA. THAT were first that had seen in months. My advice to someone considering wireline telecommunications is 'Forget it'.
