Job Responsibilities
Various summer associate assignments. Some assignments took
hours some took weeks. Random associates and partners assume you
know a lot and are very hard on you if you do not deliver.
|
Job Requirements
Very hard to get in. Not so worth it. They promise a lifestyle,
yet the firm is called "Jones Day and Night" because you are
always there. Although they profess training seminars they are
rare and don't teach what they promise.
|
Uppers
Nice coffee machines, nice offices. Get paid on time. Cafeteria is pretty neat.
|
Downers
Weird and disgusting artwork everywhere. A lot of pompous
people. Backstabbing and talking behind people's backs is not
uncommon. Many associates are not happy and plan to leave within
a few years. Personalities tend to be fake and superficial.
|
Lifestyle
No time to have a lifestyle, unless you are a partner. Dress is casual most of
the year.
|
Compensation
$125,000 a year and then lock-step salary. Partner salaries are
a mystery.

Advice to Jobseekers
Only accept the offer if it is your only opportunity. You will
not find training, friendship, time or satisfaction here. It is
a resume builder and a "prestigious" firm that pays you the $125
ticket that most desperate law school students are blinded by.
Better off in a bigger firm where you get the training or a
smaller firm where, salary per hour, you have a lifestyle and
get paid just as much!
