Job Responsibilities
Involved in design of plan and spec control system. Involved in
the ordering of equipment for installation in customer site.
Involved in the devopment of database for propretary application
software. Involved in the start-up and commissioning of system.
Projects were assigned as they were won in bid process. Size
could be from 20k to 2M. Time varied but was 30% design, 5%
ordering, 25% software and 40% commisioning and installation.

Job Requirements
Started in HVAC, learned electronics, them learned computer
hardware, software, and networks. Best path needed today would be
something that involved industrial electronics.

Uppers
Independence, self schedling, self reliant, new jobsite every project. The job
was never boaring.

Downers
Workload was never constant. Some times not much to do and all
time had to be charged to something. Some times more to do than
one person could handle and workload and scheduling too heavy.
Offices did not have enough personell to handle high work loads
and it takes to long to train new staff. Help available from
other offices but then no time to supervise. Can be very stressful

Lifestyle
Don't let the customers take over your life. Cutomers and
management can be very demanding. Job is not for the weak of
heart. Job and management can be a big source of stress. Do not
be too available after hours, that's what the service department
is for.

Compensation
Good benifits, company mimi-van, good training when time
allowed. Encouraged to take college classes when time allowed.
Pay was good but sometimes even with vacation it was hard to get
enough down time to unstress.

Advice to Jobseekers
Don't let the customers take over your life. Cutomers and
management can be very demanding. Job is not for the weak of
heart. Job and management can be a big source of stress. Do not
be too available after hours, that's what the service department
is for.
