Downers
Some months are very slow because where we are located is tourist town and if tourists are not here, it is dead here. The store is very small and not much we can do at the store so it gets boring sometime.
Lifestyle
The store opens at 10am so we come in and set up the displays and waite for customers to come. The mornng person leaves around 3 pm and the afternoon person who comes in around 1pm work till 6pm then closes the shop. We work about 6 hours a day for 5 days a week.
Compensation
Base salary is $12 per hour. Comission is 12 ~15% of whatever you sell. The jewelry costs around $150~$15,000 per item and at the end of 2 weeks, we take either comission or hourly wage whichever is higher. There are also quarterly bonus and yearly bonus. If we sell over $15,000 in three months, we get 1% of what we have sold and the same 1% if we sell over $50,000 in a year.
Advice to Jobseekers
Every store owner or manager have sales book and tapes or CDs. Take advantage of those and borrow them, listen to the CDs and read the books. They have a lot of techniques how to sell jewelry and they work too. The owner or the managers would like you too because you are motivated to learn to be better at the store. Any sales jobs, you need to spend the first a month or so learn about sales technique.
