Highest Level of Education: Undergraduate Degree

Job Responsibilities
1. Project manager for roll out of bank wide elearning training system. 2. Implemented new system to track risk characteristics of trust accounts. 3. Audited Bancruptcy, litigation and collections department for compliance with regulatory requirements and drafted department policies and procedures. 4. Worked in channel distribution to determine marketing strategy of affinity products.
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree usually in some financial field-- mine was Economics. Good but not great grades from a good undergraduate.
Uppers
No supervision. Had complete autonomy of how, when and where I wanted to work. Was lavished with praise and positive feedback.
Downers
Required a lot of smoozing with lame co-workers. Pay was not as great as wholesale side of the bank which was really not great for the high cost of living of New York City.
Lifestyle
Usually the hours were pretty great (flexible!). Some of the required business trips sucked though( winter in Rochester and occassional stint in a one horse down with the micro-mananging head of the department being steamed that you reported to someone in New York instead of him). They usually put you up in really nice corporate apartments though. Dress code business casual and every thing else is pretty industry standard. EXCEPT --socializing (holding your liquor) and being personable was just as important as the quality of your work.
Compensation
Very low $44,000 base $6,000 signing bonus. 10% performance raise and 10% bonus for performance. The pay is really low because it is expensive living in New York but at the same time you work 35 hours or less a week on average.
Advice to Jobseekers
It is great for someone who is a family person who wants a job that does not have demanding hours and great potential for advancement, however the initial investment in socializing is a must to get ahead.
