Job Requirements
My employer was looking specifically for an MBA candidate for this position, and for most managerial position anyway. J&J believes that the risk of hiring an MBA candidate is much lower than hiring any other candidate. I graduated with a major in Corporate Strategy. Classes were in general very good at HEC where I took my MBA, as visiting professors are coming to lecture from highly profiled university or companies. Workload was very heavy, especially during the first half of the program. Key is to be very organized from the beginning.
Uppers
- A lot of interaction within people in the organization - Direct contact and cooperation with top management - International aspect - clear goals and directions from management
Downers
After almost one year on the job, I must say that everything has exceeded my expectations. I am however traveling abroad a bit too much (away 3 days of the week on average), which is difficult to manage with a family.
Lifestyle
A lot of interaction and traveling. Required Skills & Capabilities: Strong skills in managing complexity, identifying&setting priorities and keeping focus to deliver within tight timelines High degree of self-motivation, strong ability to achieve buy-in and committment from stakeholders and peers without having direct authority Strong desire for continued learning Strong customer orientation
Compensation
Base salary US$ 95 000, plus bonus up to 15% of salary yearly. Since January 2004 (9 months on the job), I have had 2 pay raise (one 4% and recently one of 5%). Performance is very important-
Advice to Jobseekers
Very good, as you have the opportunity to give valuable information on which the board of directors will make decisions.
