Job Responsibilities
Repair of all types of manufacturing hand tools, Micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, dial bore gages and many others to numerous to mention.I completly disassemble, clean , reassemble and replace any worn or broken parts, lap the spindle and anvil with piamond compound to within .00005" parrallelism. Dial Indicators are disassembled checked for worn or broken parts, reassembled and checked for accruacy. And much the same for all tools repaired at our facility.
Job Requirements
All training is done in-house.
Uppers
The ability to work independently at my own pace and set my own hours, Wuth any overtime that we deem necessary to get the job done, as long as the repairs are as good or better then manufactures specifications
Downers
There are no medical or retirement benifits.
Lifestyle
Most companies are not run the way my company is run , each employee sets there own hours as long as there weeks ends up with 40 hours for the week and the work gets done the owner doesn't care . If we smoke we are alowed to anywhere in the building. There isn't any dress code to speak of as long as you don't look all ratty a such.no buisness travel, the boss takes care of us on christmas with a party in the shop and pays us for the rest of the day and a weeks pay as a christmas bonus.
Compensation
After 4 years with the company I am making $14.25 Per hour, plus any overtime that is needed to get the work done.and of course the Christmas bonus!
Advice to Jobseekers
try to learn how to repair as many different tools as you can and do a very through job with no reworks after final inspection. As long as there is manufacturing they will need there tools fixed.
