80% Recruitment and Hiring the best most qualified candidates. 10% Benefits and pension administration and calculations 10% Employee Wellness program implementation and administration including adding new sections of the program on a quarterly basis
Job Requirements
Human Resources Management diploma program which includes, Business Law, Management, Human Resources Management, Organizational Behaviour, Accounting, Economics, Macroeconomics, Introduction to Business, Interpersonal Skills, Recruitment & Selection, Training, Labour Relations, Computers, Database system and a few electives.
Uppers
The best parts of my job are meeting and helping people. I love to interview people and get to know them through the interviewing process. I also love to help people meet their benefit needs as their life circumstances changes (such as marriage, having a baby, divorce, spouse out of work etc). I also like to help people with the human resources policies and procedures.
Downers
Filing is not much fun but always a part of most positions. However it is really important and needs to be kept up to date.
Lifestyle
Hours of work are Monday to Friday 9 - 5. There is a requriement to have a vehicle to travel to the various locations within the lower mainland. You are required to be at all of the companies social events ie: picnic, christmas party. Dress code is business casual which most people like because it is a little more relaxed. The company is very diverse and multi-cultural.
Compensation
The base salary for this positon is $33,000 Canadian per year. Yearly bonuses are based on your performance review. Full time employee are eligible for Medical, Dental and Extended Health, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Pension, Group Life Insurance (which are paid for by the company). Short and long term disability are paid for by the employee and are mandatory.
Advice to Jobseekers
Human Resources is constantly changing so you must be adaptable to change. You will be required to do some training of the employees. You must keep your skills and education up to date at all time along with your computer skills. It is a great work environment but you are in constant demand by the employees and managers. You must have superior interpersonal skills.
