Location: Seattle, Washington
Company: Honeywell International
Experience: Entry-level
Highest Level of Education: Undergraduate Degree

Job Responsibilities
Wrote systems-level specifications for aerospace electronic systems. Tested system functionality with flight simulations and actual flight tests.
Job Requirements
Electrical Engineering is one of the more difficult undergraduate degrees. Intensive lab work makes the degree incredibly hands-on and team oriented.
Uppers
I was challenged intellectually, often being asked to apply concepts I only distantly understood. I was forced to master a myriad of different engineering skills.
Downers
I was 1 of 400 people that was working on a chip that went into a product. When you are that insignificant, it's hard to take pride in your work.
Lifestyle
Not much travel at all, just annual industry conferences. Often 40 hours/week, with the rare exception. Dress code is slacks and polos, at a minimum.
Compensation
Base salary out of college- $55,000. 1st-year bonus: $3,000. Full med. benefits, no options available. Very typical for entry-level engineering positions.
Advice to Jobseekers
Great place to get in the door of some world-class companes, with engineering. However, unless you want to stay at the bottom, never spend more than 3 years in one place. To move up, you have to either jump around companies or go back to school and enter on a different track.
