Job Responsibilities
I daily supervise and teach direct care trainers how to teach
and treat developmentally disable adults who live in a certified
group home setting. I develop teaching goals, guidelines for
these goals, and them implement them. Implementation requires
teaching both my peers and subordinates. Basically, I am like a
teacher, that teachers others how to teach.

Job Requirements
A BA in Psychology, Sociology, or related field. I attended a
City University of New York (Brooklyn College). The overall
education was excellent, however; you get what you pay for.
Registration, getting classes, financial aid; all of this is
usually pure hell. Workload was heavy, grading was subjective to
professor.

Uppers
My job is rewarding. I watch people whom most of society deems as mentally
retarded or uncapable grown, change, and learn. On top of this I watch otherwise
undereducated urban minorities find pleasure thru teaching and finding things
about themselves they never new they could handle.

Downers
The pay is barely there, but this is to be expected with a non-
profit. You don't get into to this sort of work for the money.
The limited finances makes selectivity for our direct care staff
almost null and void. Therefore we are usally challenged in the
area training which impacts the people we serve in numerous
negative ways.
|
Lifestyle
My work hours are flexible because its a 24 hour feild. There are fundraiser and
social events that are usually free and fun. The dress code is relaxed for the
most part and usually up to the individual.

Compensation
$49,000.00.
