Uppers
Helping out people in distress in a very stressful situation as they are
concerned for thier own health, family and friends.
|
Downers
When people are sometimes upset over health issues with family
and friends or self, they can at times be incredibly cruel, and
rude, they forget the person on the other end of the phone does
NOT know them or their situation usually and is trying to help
them but we must take the abuse.
|
Lifestyle
Working at night, you are usually pretty tired, dress is casual hospital attire
which is comfortable, you must be able to function professionally and smartly in
an area that you are the only person there all night. Your only contact is the
phone. If you are not a self motivator, you will not like this isolation part of
the job.
|
Compensation
This is NOT a high paying position unless your 911 or able to
triage the patients which is not always allowed at hospitals.
There are no bonuses. There are vacation perks and stock options
and retirement plans that are attractive and a lot of discounted
perks with other businesses. This is a nice job for a working
mom situation.

Advice to Jobseekers
If you are looking for a job that is pretty secure, hospital
answering services are it. If you want challenge, or a place you
can climb the ladder, this is not it. You will not make a lot of
money, in a two income family this is a good deal for the kids,
but a single mom situation, it may not work well.
