Job Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include being the primary project manager from start to finish as well as drafting new custom research surveys and preparing client-ready deliverables, including analysis and report writing. Depending on the level of experience, a manager/director may have more or less oversight of the associate's work. For a seasoned associate, the position is client-facing and requires you to understand the client's needs, meet ad-hoc requests and push back as necessary. You may be the client's primary contact at Harris Interactive.
Job Requirements
Miniumum of a Bachelor's degree. In this hiring process, it may help to have a degree in a "relevant" major (psychology, economics, business, etc.) though many of my co-workers have bachelor's degrees and advanced degrees in things not directly related to marketing (such as English, Spanish, history, etc). Depending on the team, some hiring managers care more than others about the prestige of the institution a candidate has attended. Those who hold advanced degrees (in anything) would appear to get hired at higher titles (regardless of experience) and be promoted faster than others, although managers say advanced degrees are not required.
Lifestyle
Work hours are typically 40-50 hours/week, and sometimes more in the busiest parts of the year. Some opportunity to telecommute occasionally, though this is informal and there aren't formal flex time programs. Travel is required to attend client meetings and make presentations 5-8 times a year on average, and much more frequently if an associate is managing qualitative research(as opposed to quantitative). Dress code is business casual.
Compensation
Base salary is $46,000 (USD) with $0 - $10,000 annual bonus, depending on the team beating its revenue targets. Benefits such as 401k matching and insurance are fine.
