Job Responsibilities
Colouring clients' hair, cutting clients' hair, making them feel good about themselves when they leave, making sure that I have done the best possible service that i can offer. General duties e.g. cleaning, shampooing clients.
Job Requirements
TAFE programs would be the best to learn my area of work, the apprentership last for 4 years on is one day a week for that duration. Then the rest of the week you are at your work place learning new and impoving your skills.
Uppers
Making someone feel and look a million dollars when they leave, that feels rewarding, meeting new and different people every day, being able to express yourself through you work.
Downers
The pay. The hours, that one annoying client you get during the day, the boss, the cleaning sore feet at the end of the day. But the uppers blalence out the downers ;-)
Lifestyle
It's a very social industry, you need to be able to communicate well with people, without being pushy, the hours are long and draining you on your feet all day and you have to stay bright and bubbley, even if you just had an absloute B # @ * H make you feel terrible. Depening on where you work your are able to express yourself being a very fashionable industry you always ned to keep up with the lastest trends, whether it be hairstyles or clothing, you will find that everyone has there own unique style and creativity.
Compensation
The salery is not great for the hours you work long day on saturdays, late nights, but the harder you work and the more effort you put in, you wont go unnoticed, base salery per week depending on your hour is around $500 for a qualifed hairdresser, bonuses are common ing this industry, the harder you work for more money you can make.
Advice to Jobseekers
You need passion dedication, and great personality, good commincation skill, love to be around people, but you also need to do your search and find out if it is best for you, and most of all you need to enjoy what you are doing, every year the beauty industry is growing more and more, so if you passionate about it get on board.
