Job Responsibilities
I spend between 15 and 17.5 hours a week on my job. My main responsiblity is to promote and sell irons, steam generators, irons boards, frying pans, food processors, blenders, and coffee machines. Late night tradings is normaly 7.5 hours a day and normal days is 5 hours. I am going to retail outlets for this promotions.
Job Requirements
You need product knowledge as well as good selling skills. You do not need a diploma but I helps if you do selling courses to see a opportunity when it occurs. You must know how to close a sale and let the customer feel that she/ he is always right. let the customer feel he/she is in control while you in fact lead her to buy your product. Make her feel that she needs it and can not leaf the store without it.
Uppers
You see a lot of potential out there. You see all the opposition as well as opportunities. While you in a store you are also always aware of all specials on all products. Meet a lot of interesting people.
Downers
You see al lthe competition and good prices and goods, and you feel stranded because you can not always meet the prices of their specials/guarantees and sale figures. Also customer preferens can break your spirit if they prefer a brand that you are not selling and you know that that is a better product or the price is better and their is nothing you can do about it.
Lifestyle
I do not think there is a long-term future in this postion. It is mainly for housewifes, retired people or students who want's to earn the extra buck. That is not for a caree orintated person but it can be very satisfactory if your sales go well. But there is no extra money if your sales is good or bad it is only points that make the difference.
Compensation
There is a hourly rate as well as a hourly rate for petrol allowences. The down fall is that there is no sick or leave pay. This is a permanent part time position and there for they pay a percentence of your hourly rate for leave pay. That means you do get something every month for leave but the actual day's that you don't work is no pay. When you do sell something you get points for certain goods. These points can get redeemed for stock. One point is as good as $1. You can also get staff discount on cash when you purchase goods. Demo models get also sold for very cheap prices that you can buy once a year on a staff sale.
