Job Responsibilities
Job Description/Key Indicators Territory Manager Manage Territory,ensuring customers are serviced and kept informed on promotional activities,new product lines. Keeping regular direct contact with sales appointments. Ensuring and maintaining companies products are reflecting market share on shelf and all product is up to standards and all pricing is inaccordance with both parties. Organise effective coverage in your territory from (Large to small accounts) ratio is determined on economic potential(Volumes driven through stores to acheive NSV Targets). Large accounts require 2-3 calls a week due to large portfolio and duration in sale calls can be 2 hours plus time spent in store merchandising, checking compliance, stock, pricing, ticketing can be up to another 1-2 hours. Allow 4-5 hours in just 1 account. Hours can vary with commencing you day- any where from starting at 5-6am finnishing at 5pm, goes in swings and round abouts. Once again effective time planning,delegations and good customer relationships. Allow 2 hours for weekly catch up meetings. 1 Day for monthly meetings, sometime 2 days. National Conference 2-3 days. Training 1- 2 days. Administration daily. Friday and some weekends can be notorious for all your spare time being used up. (Unnessary as the paper trail and weekly/monthly reports can take valuable time in your day where i believe you should be out there making sales...! Work out how much demands there will be for products and services Prepare budgets and sales plan Work out price lists, discounts, delivery terms and sales quotas. Advise other managers on public reaction to products of services. Allocate territory and sales targets to sales representatives. Supervise sales Representatives and ensure sales targets are met. Organise traning for sales reps and merchandising staff. Report to General Manager or Marketing Manager. Organise Staff meetings. Co-ordinate and facilitate the company's customer service standards. Attend trade shows, conferences, weekly/monthly meetings.
Job Requirements
Training programs within company require daily applications. What you put into it is what you get out of it. It is like a smorgasboard you take what you need out of it that is going to be of value to you.
Uppers
Hilights - Meeting new people, particulary othe Comp Reps, Good networking. Inside scoop on whats happening out there. Head down - butt up (everybody will know your business) Beware of customer bbq invites and Xmas boozy nites). Every day different. Variety in work. Great products/Staff shop/Freebies/Comp car/Super.Scheme/Paid health. Insurance (not he reason why I wanted the job). But yes the car - Ford?, I did get a little cheeky and asked where was my Holden... Summer time, lunch at the beach! Not always too busy to have breaks.
Downers
Too much paperwork. Lack of communication with Head office.i.e Talk to voice mail most times. Never able to get hold of marketing, key accounts, logistics. In times of crisis, in some cases matter not acted or escalated up to ressolve. So good strong negotiation skills a must. Early mornings...! Targets/demands unrealistic. Loss of promotions due to under supply due to underforcasting.
Lifestyle
Only hardworking need apply. Agressive/smart/flexible able to work under pressure particulary peak times easter/xmas/. Difinite skill to have organised. Team player,able to work unsupervised. The Companies future to protect market leader position and maintain category captains. Quality products and services/ new and innovative marketing concepts. Raise customer brands and profile. Ensure employer has available resources in xtra in house training.
Compensation
Base salary varies $35 + car indicative of expereience, health insurance. 4weeks Holidays. renuemeration reviews based on your Kpr's/Kpi you may refer to. Quarterly/anually. Bonuses based on individual targets and total company. Some monthly incentives paid out in vouchers just to get the juices flowing. Company card used sensibly mainly for customer lunches etc other sundry items.
