Job Responsibilities
Receiving of purchased items for use in the plant, whether it be
janitoral, quality control, etc. I also must reorder parts that
are in what we call "free area", screws, cable ties, nuts, bolts,
and conduit/piping. I also help the maintenace people find parts
that they need to repair the machinery that is used in our plant.

Job Requirements
I got this job just by signing a posting and then being tested in
things that would be needed to perform the job in question. The
test involved, tool identifcation of various tools, what goes
with these tools (like screws go with a screwdriver) and some
math too. It also helped that I was working in quality control
prior to getting this position. You should have some knowledge
of use of the tape measure, caliper,etc.

Uppers
That I have my own desk, air conditioning in the warmer days, and I work at my
own pace and not on an assemble line. Learn more about the maintenance field.

Some of the maintenace men can be a little on the sassy side and
if they are having a bad day they seem to take it out on you.

Lifestyle
My hours of work are 3:30pm to 11:30pm, which took sometime to adjust to after
being on first shift(6:30am-3pm). As far as dress, most wear just jeans, but
some wear uniforms. Have never had to go out of town for business.

Compensation
My rate of pay is $10.74 per hr., plus dental/medical ins.,
prescription card (which pays all but 20%), and we can get into a
401k plan but it is without a company match(this why I don't
contribute). All these things are made possibly through UNION
negotiations. NO bonuses, NO stock options unless you are part
of the 401k.

Advice to Jobseekers
Anyone coming into this type of job, should have a willingness to
excell in all areas. The more that you know, the better your
chances of getting advances.
