Job Responsibilities
At present I am fully retired, however I am referring to my last job. The job responsibilities consist of maintaining the numerous computers to allow two man operated ship at sea to include a computer operated 16000 horsepower diesl engine that propells the ship. Addtitioally, I maintained the computerized fuel replenishmnent equipment utlized to replenish Naval Ships at sea.
Job Requirements
Most of the training is on-the-job training, generally at sea with extended periods at sea. A community college level of electronics training would be a must prior to going to sea. In most instances the career path is via the enginering department path. Tus most start as a wiper then 2nd electrician, chief electrician then to electronics tech.

Ability to visit many countries, save money

many month at sea away from family.
Lifestyle
Perhaps the best way into this field is a 4 year tour in the U.S. Navy in one of their electronics rates.
Compensation
In my last year at sea for 8 month work my wages including overtime were in excess of $75000.00
