Job Requirements
Hiring the right person for the right job is challenging.
Selection decisions must balance the company's goals of
embracing global diversity, emphasizing people development,
managing business risk and providing customer value. Leaders
may approach interviewing candidates using behavioral interview
questions appropriate to the level of the position. Customer
Focus, Integrity and Trust, Ethics and Values, Motivating
Others, Drive for Results, Building Effective Teams, Priority
Setting, Decision Quality, Business Acumen, and Organizing are
the behaviors EDS looks to every employee to exhibit. There are
Shared Competencies for every job code, which are validated,
research-based competencies selected by leaders as required
competencies to achieve strategic objectives. In all job codes,
there a Competency-Based Matrix has been created, which is used
to define the requirements for a specific job / job role,
identify development opportunities and facilitate development
and career planning conversations with leaders. There are
several active coaching and mentoring programs as well as a
website which provides course offerings, development paths, and
links to internal and external resources. Classes are available
both online and as instructor-led. The quality of most of the
classes has been good to excellent depending on the instructor
and type of class. It is expected that each employee complete
40 hours of training per year as part of their objectives and
developement plan.

Uppers
Availability of training, flexible work schedule, working with a global team and
learning from them, and the ability to network with a large group of people.
|
Downers
Since it is a large corporation, it can be difficult to be
recognized for your work. It is very dependent upon your
manager to support salary increases, bonuses or promotions.
However, being recognized within the teams you work with or
manage can help provide the additional assistance needed to gain
the recognition to move you into other career opportunities.
|
Lifestyle
Work hours can be extremely varied especially if assigned to a global project.
Travel has been restricted and is only approved when necessary. Some social
events are consistent across the regions, others are region-specific. Dress code
is dependent upon the client you are working with, otherwise, it is business
casual. Being a global company, employees have opportunities to work with a
diverse group, which I find the best part of the job.
|
Compensation
Base salary is dependent on which job code you are assigned when
hired based on education, experience and certifications.
Bonuses have been far and few between but tend to be part of the
financials when developing a project with a client. Stock
options are available to employees, medical, dental, vision,
disability, long-term care insurance, spending accounts,
adoption assistance, employee discounts, wellness programs,
employee-family events, vacation, and tuition reimbursement.
