Job Responsibilities
Acts as recipient counselor for Medicaid care services. Functions as liaison to recipients by clarifying federal and state regulations. Determines recipient??s eligibility for Medicaid benefits programs. Collects eligibility data information. Visits Medicaid long term care facilities to facilitate eligibility. Investigate and verifies accuracy of information provided by recipients under the Medicaid programs to determine compliance with State, Federal laws and rules and regulations.
Uppers
The best part of my job is that I am able to communicate with people that are need of medical insurance. And even if they do not qualify for the services, they still appreciate the compassion and the time that I offer. Help the needy is always a joy for me!
Downers
The worst part of my job is that some people actually do not qualify for the services and sometimes I just can not help me which makes me feel kind of bad.
Lifestyle
I work 45 hours one week, then the next week I work 35 hours (it is flexible) and have the Friday off. I only travel to other offices if help is requested; no business travel. We rarely have social events at the job. The dress code is business.
Compensation
You can start off making I think $24000 a year which is not bad for a beginner. No bonusm no stocks. The company does pay for your health insurance premium and matches the retirement.
Advice to Jobseekers
The advice that I have is that you must be a person that is willing to become loyal to the public and be able to handle heavy case loads and talking on the phone.
