Job Responsibilities
Managing a large territory within the province with the responsibility of having 7 business development reps reporting to me. I cover all retail locations both independent and chain types, wholesale locations, duty free and alternate channels of business to develop our market share, sales and merchandising presence. Responsibility to recruit and train new employees with the intntion of moving them 2 levels within the organization within 2 years. Maintain focus of those employees on a 13 week cycle based on sales actions, launche introduction of new products and employee rigid merchandising agreements. Manage for success and develop individuals through use of 360 process, objectives and stretch objectives according to company guidelines. responsible to keep reps abreastand train corporate computing program in use and any new changes that evolve.
Job Requirements
Hiring is through in house procedures,agencies aand university /college solicitation. business degree is desired but not required as well as in house detailed training program of all sales aspects, expectations, corporate policy and procedures as well as in field traing with manager and peers. career path is to seek individuals that are mobile, willing to improve their performance in order to lead to cross over promotion in other departments as well as sales. Succession planning would recognize individuals after their sales experience in the field over a 2 year period minimum.

The passion to succeed to become number 1 in Canada. all aspects of the job from sales, customer relations, employees are like one big family. Chance to see many parts of the country and work in many locations over the year. The comradry, the way the company treats personnel and the chances for moving forward. There is very little that is not good.
Downers
When too many directives are put frth and interrupt plans,instead of methodical planning.
Lifestyle
Work hours are generally 8:30 -4:30 but ther are many times that one must go beyond the core hours. excellent social events as Christmas Party, 25 year club dinner dance, National sales meeting could be anywhere in Canada yearly. !3 week cycle meetings with some social time. travel is only necessary outside ones territory for meetings or special launches. Dress code is now business casual and was shirt ,tie and jacket ( or dress slacks/skirt for the women) 5 years previous.
Compensation
Base salary is very comptitive and is the 80percentile of the package good industry. there has been a bonus plan in place in the last 5 years which is relaively new. benefits are superb on all fronts and there has been allowance for stock options in the last 4 years.
Advice to Jobseekers
It will be more demanding but the way the business is going sale reps will be needed more in the future versusu other packaged good industries who are merging, being taken over and downsizing. It would be in someones best interests to follow a business degree, read up on the company and do their homework. If possible get some sales experience and show integrity and the willingness to advance.
