Job Responsibilities
Special events coordination - 10-15 hours/week
Annual giving campaign management - 10-15 hours/week
Coordination and compilation of newsletter & annual report - 5 hours/week.
Financial administration - 5 hours/week
Board and Committee administrative support - 3-5 hours/week
General office duties, including website maintenance,
purchasing, database management, etc. - 3-5 hours/week

Job Requirements
Required an undergraduate degree and a desire for working in the
non profit sector. Arts background/interest/experience also
preferred.

Uppers
Wide variety of work duties on a daily and weekly basis. Hands on experience
with special events and fundraisers. Working directly with volunteers.

Downers
Slow summer season can become boring. Not a lot of room for
growth or creativity on the job. Not challenging enough.

Lifestyle
Generally 40 hours/week with some exceptions due to special events. No travel.
Business casual dress code. Gallery openings every other month serve as social
events. Lack of diversity.

Compensation
Base salary around $25,000; small holiday and year-end bonuses;
employer paid for 50% of healthcare and dental benefits; little
vacation time.

Advice to Jobseekers
The field of arts administration is still in the growth stages,
especially among small local organizations. Larger arts
organizations are facing a growing challenge, in part due to
changes in funding structures. Development positions are
generally plentiful within the arts and other nonprofit
organizations.
