Job Requirements
Is this the correct question? The educational requirements for
my job were that I have a BA; having a Master's was additional
pay. Having a master's was not necessary though to climb up the
ladder.

Uppers
Always a new thing; dealing with kids and parents (could also be bad);
satisfying; each year the program ended, so there was a culmination each year of
the past 12 months of work.
|
Downers
Dealing with kids and parents (also an upper); bureaucracy of a
non-profit organization; the district not listening to one small
program and making decisions that were not in the best interest
of the program; difficulty in working with other departments;
easy to fall through the cracks in such a large organization.

Lifestyle
Easy culture; 8-4:30 workday. Stayed late sometimes during real crunch times,
but usually pretty easy going.

Compensation
Base salary was about $40K/yr. There were no bonuses, but we got
3-4 weeks vacation, a retirement pension plan, and fully covered
medical, vision and dental insurance.

Advice to Jobseekers
Education? It's a good field for those who are looking for a
life long career. There are many benefits to staying for thirty
years, including a great retirement plan. Non profits are always
tough and don't pay that well, but are usually pretty fulfilling.
