Job Responsibilities
I am the communications hub of the business. I am also the "director of first impressions". Many people walking into the business form their opinion in the first minutes. the impression I try to convey is professional and caring. I am responsible for the proper processing of phone calls to the proper department. Many professional calls are being made to and from the various departments. I must know the job duties of each person and how to direct each customer and call to the correct worker. I also provide the personal touch in a world that uses phone automation now. That just shows me how difficult this position is. people are so subjuct to making mistakes that businesses have shifted the responsiblity of connecting the call to the caller. This I find to be very frustrating when I am trying to call someone to conduct my very important phone call. I also must collect the imformation from the patients being admitted. the imformation I collect must be accurate for the correct billing and treatment of the people.
Job Requirements
I have worked more middle management positions, and so I realize the importance of this position. Altough I have an Accounting degree, and have worked many years as Finance Officer, i have tryied to de-stress my life by taking this position. But in life, If it is worth doing- its worth doing right.
Uppers
The best parts are being paid to be nice. Business today is very intense and many people forget common curtesy.I would like to see the public and profession world return to a more respectful and polite interaction. I feel that in treating people and coworkers with respect results in a more cooperative arrangement and that I also get treated with more respect.
Downers
Ther worst parts are that there is never enough time to get everything done correctly. and the other bad part is that in the stress of responsibility, workers seeM to "shoot the messinger"
Lifestyle
I work normal office 9-5, Mon-fri hours, in nice dress- Not formal business suits, but more professional dress. the hours are nice since I have a family, but it is difficult to get my own business matters done, since the hours of other businesses are the same as mine.
Compensation
My pay is lower that what I have gotten on other employment, but my responsibilites and stress level is lower also. Everyone must deceide what is the best for them in their situations.
Advice to Jobseekers
Always remember that the more you cooperation with your fellow coworkers the easier the business on the whole runs. Management is very thankful when the duties are carried out responsibly and cooperatively. Management is more like management instead of babysitting.
