Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary! Depending on what the client needs. I
am mainly responsible for supporting the team on projects and
ensuring research material is ready when needed. I am also
responsible for creating presentations, taking notes in
meetings, meeting with clients and working with them.

Uppers
Best part: IF you get to travel and live in a nice city like San Francisco or
New York. Expense account, work with well educated people. Don't have to work
with the same people all the time (just in case you get a bad manager). Lots of
vacation days BUT no sick days. So if you get sick you have to use your vacation.

Downers
1. Large company so lots of bureacracy. 2. If you don't suck up
to the partners you pretty much don't have a chance of success
whatsoever. 3. One bad review can impact your whole career 4.
LOTS of travel to places unheard of. 5. Always underestimate the
hours needed for work so Consultants ends up getting burned from
the hours. 6. Client comes first no matter what so Consultants
don't get respect. 7. Phony environment 8. You can get stuck
on a bad project lasting MONTHS. 9. No consistency, one day
you can be in VA the next in DC. Where there is a need you have
to go.
|
Lifestyle
1. Hours are long 2. Lots of travel 3. Expense policy tighter 4. Used to have
more socials when firm was Deloitte Consulting not Deloitte. 5. Social events are
for networking purposes and ALL are expected to attend (unwritten rule). 6.
Diversity is better than some IBanks. 7. If you want a small cozy firm this is
not the place for you. 8. You have to be witty and be able to network well
because people come and go very quickly.
|
Compensation
1. Bonuses are non existent at lower levels. 2. Lower level
people work lots of hours but no compensation for that whereas
management get bonsues for selling work with the least costs
(AKA more hours which are not billed). When you sign you do get
a nice bonus which uncle sam takes half of. Benefits are the
same as most places (health, 401K)

Advice to Jobseekers
1. Think carefully before you sign
2. Do you want to travel Mon-Thurs, if yes then you will like
this job.
3. Do you mind being on your own in a small town and eating room
service?
4. If change is something you like, then this is the place for
you!
