Downers
Managing company store (very painful at times)
Managing employee perks - few ever seem happy or appreciative
(can't win)
Watching top level managers set poor examples - VERY painful for
me. (This does not include my supervisor, the Chairman, who is
wonderful, selfless person.)

Lifestyle
Although our headquarters are very elegant, our dress code is fairly relaxed. I
wear office casual everyday except for quarterly Board meetings. I feel fortunate
in that I can work a shortened schedule (32 hrs/week) without jeapardizing my
job. This includes some telecommuting and occassionally some weekend hours but
it's all good as long as I can keep up with my work demands. The company social
events I attend are occassional business dinners at Office Manager and Officer
meetings with spouses included (optional), annual holiday and summer picnic
events.

family, company-paid life insurance, discounted supplemental
life insurance, 8 paid holidays, 4 weeks paid vacation/per
year. ESOP stock awarded annually. 401k plan with company
matching. Cafeteria plan with administration fees company-
paid.

Advice to Jobseekers
Engineering is certain to continue to be a growing industry. It
is still a fairly male-dominated industry and companies
desperately need female (as well as minority) candidates to fill
open positions, so it's a field with many opportunities for
those individuals as well as your basic garden-variety caucasian
male.
