Job Responsibilities
I have several responsibilities in my job.
I'm administrating education programs for our trainees in all
our stores. This expands from getting them well started in their
new job, to making sure they are educated in all required job
functions to graduating them. I use approx. 25 hours a week
administrating this part.
I'm also responsible for making presentations for education and
publishing them on our local intranet site. I use about five
hours a week doing this.
Then I'm responsible for the trainees at the office, making sure
they meet their deadlines in time etc. This is about two to
three hours a week.
The remaining time I use for functions like making budgets,
various tasks and meetings. It's very different how much time I
spend on this.

Job Requirements
The requirements for beeing a human resource assistant aren't
one-sided, which means that you can have various backgrounds.
Personally I gratuated the commercial college and just finished
beeing a two-year trainee.
It's a good idea to have had work experience from another full-
time job with human resource functions, and it's also a good
thing to have a military background. People who have been in the
military accepts to take orders when it's neccesary, and you
have to be able to do that, when you're not in a managing
position.
The career paths in the company are very divert. You can start
working in the stores and later on become a buyer at the
headquarter, but this often requires that you have at least a
bachelor or so or you can start as a buying assistant or similar
and end up by beeing sales manager of a big warehouse. There are
many possibilities, since it's a larger company.
My own goal is to become a human resource consultant or an
office leader in a bigger warehouse.

Uppers
The biggest upper in my job is the responsibility. If you want to have
responsibility, you will get it. I like to have job a job function where I'm
being held responsible for the work I do, both negativly and positivly. It's the
responsibility that makes me glad for going to work everyday.
Another upper in my job is the working enviroment. I like the professional
enviroment, where every decision has a consequence. If a decision doesn't have a
consequence, it's just not worth spending time on.

Downers
The downers are routine work. I don't like to do the same thing
over and over again. I'm glad that I only spend 2-4 hours a week
doing routine assignments.

Lifestyle
If you want to be in human resources, you have to accept that every person on
this planet is different from each other. This means that you have to accept and
understand that people may have opposite opinions and ideas of how things should
be done. You have to accept people for who they are, not what you want them to
be.
You should also be able to work late nights if it's required. If I have a
deadline, I will stay at work, until I made my tasks.
I spend a lot of time travelling also. I'm away from home about 8 weeks a year,
and I find that quite nice. Ofcourse I miss my family sometimes, but I also like
to get away from my office desk.
There is no particular dress code at my office, but you have to dress proper and
nicely. Tie is optional.
The social events in the company are few, but you are somewhat expected to
participate in these events. The advantage of participating is that you get to
know your fellow emoployees in another way, which can be used at the office in
the future.
Finally I would like to say that you need to be service-minded and quite
competitive. Only the people who want's to make a difference will be chosen.

Compensation
The base salary is about 6500$ a month. The more you prove your
worth, the faster the salary will rise.
Then you will get benefits like 8-20% discount on all products
in the warehouses. The company also have a lot of deals with
other companies, where you can get a discount on gas, fitness,
movers, car rental etc.

Advice to Jobseekers
If you want a job in human resources, you really have to want to
work in the field. If you're only interested in making money,
you should look for something else. You also have to be co-
operative since a lot of the work is made with other people,
both inside and outside the company.
In the future there will become much more focus on human
resources. The employees in a company are of the biggest value,
and if you don't educate and develop you employees, they want be
able to match the competition in the market. This also means
that the requirements of a job in human resources will get
bigger. You have to have the right qualifications to work in
this field.
