Lighting assistance in a wedding environment. Duties included
setting up a variety of lighting situations, preparation of
equipment.

Job Requirements
Bachelors in Fine Art Photography-Taught a variety of lighting
techniques, darkroom techinques. Quality of classes was not
worth the price of education.Not enough instruction, clarity of
information.

Uppers
Networking,meeteing people,pay, concert photography is fun. Feels as though it
is not a job/work.

Downers
Long hours on wedding sessions, not enough full time permanent
work, to much free-lance work. Depending on the company, over
all, pay can be low at times for what I do.

Lifestyle
Hours can varie, depending on the work/photo session, travel can be long, dress
code is neat, but casual most of the time, weddings-dress code is a suit. It can
be diverse from one session to another, depending on what you photograph. Playing
with light is interesting.

Compensation
no bonuses, hard to find full time work. Wedding photography or
commercial art is better of all the types of photography.

Advice to Jobseekers
It is a slow start, so if you have full time work - keep it until
you become well known and creative enough, have patience
(applies to any vocation). Be persistant, if this is what you
want to do, learn as much as possible and keep networking. The
future is here for photography, so learn as much as possible
about the digital end of photography.
