Job Responsibilities
My responsibilities are directly related to the published flight
schedule, I'm more like a scheduling Fireman ,I react and
manipulate the schedule according to demand - There are many
reasons for schedule change, a few examples are; a convention in
a city that requires additional lift to move all the customers,
often general demand exceeds the original schedule and I adjust
the schedule to capture the revenue, there may be an Air Show at
a city that requires the airspace to be restricted, or any
unforeseen occurrence (like weather) that would damage or hinder
access to a destination??I manipulate flight types to city pairs
for each schedule change to ensure a 100% schedule balance - There
is no specific amount of time given to any one project, it's a
published schedule and often changes drive cost, so I must be
cautious with my moves, but expeditious with my time as customers
will often need to be notified and the sooner the better??

Job Requirements
My particular position is only obtainable with specific
experience, specific education or a mild combination of both -
However in the commercial aviation industry, the requirements for
education vary greatly from High School/ GED to MBA - There are
many opportunities in this industry that require specific
licenses and or hands on experience, while others may require
formal education or simply an honest interest to start a career.

Uppers
The best thing I like about my job is the independence I have to make find
solutions to any given situation and the challenge each issue presents.

Downers
If I had to say that there was ??a worst part of my job?? I would
simple say that 8 hours anywhere (except maybe in bed) is to long??

Lifestyle
As mentioned above, the current situation in the commercial
aviation industry is very volatile at the moment but the industry
as a whole is very exciting with many opportunities worldly??If
you like to travel the benefits enable you to really pull out all
the stops and the employees in general are well spirited and
adopt to change well.

Compensation
The current situation in the aviation industry has put a bit of a
damper on compensation, although Continental is extremely
committed to paying their employees a fair market wage - There are
also programs and incentives that enable bonuses to all employees -
Compensation ranges greatly from position to position, based on
either experience and or education - The salary for my position can
vary from mid 30s to upper 50s per year.
