Downers
Salary, entry level jobs in the Publishing industry pay low...but the benefits (for this company specifically) are uncomparable, really, really great benefits.
Lifestyle
Work hours are normally 40 hours per week, with 10 days vacation. People stay late but only if they want to. Only senior level executives get to travel to trade shows and fashion shows a lot. We get invited to parties, wine tastings, fashion events, store openings...Dress code is very trendy but also professional. Anything goes but people here definitely dress to impress, the latest fashion.. Diversity: its mostly women, and mostly caucasion American, with some French and Italian employees.

$28,000 a year Benefits: $2,500 a year for tuition reimbursement, health care for $215 a year (no deductible, $10 co-pay), $29 a year for dental (no deductible, $10 co-pay), $400 towards a gym membership, $100 towards a pair of new glasses, Free legal, use pre-tax dollars for transportation, discounts at Lancome, select designers, spas, free magazine subscriptions, free entry into museums, discounted subscriptions for friends.
Advice to Jobseekers
Competition for this industry is fierce. Do something unique to make yourself stand out from the crowd. The more prestigious the magazine, the more prestigious your experience should be. Register with agencies, I applied here directly and quickly got a rejection letter, they hire from agencies a lot. Also, interns and temps often get hired on.
