Job Responsibilities
My major job responsiblities with Closet Factory will be to go to
the client's home and determine their needs and wants. We will
also determine the best way to satisfy these needs and wants in
relation to whether or not there is an essential budget, or
whether the quality of the product is the most important thing as
an investment. I will be doing some sort of basic cost
estimating, then developing a drawing for discussion, and a final
drawing for construction and detailed project costs. I begin
training for this job in a few days, but I have done the same
job, before, for a company that was in the same industry. This
information was given to us at the original presentation and job
offer meeting.

Job Requirements
Closet Factory hand picks the people they want to invite to their
team; they offer upper-end cabinets including custom staining and
solid wood with a stain-grade veneer; this is unique in the
industry. I have a 4 year bachelor of science degree in
architectural design plus many years experience drawing and
supervising the drawings for construction. Other members of the
team had similar experience levels in related fields of sales and
construction. The class is very intensive, and I plan to take a
few days to study the material before I start on my first
assignment, to be sure I have a good grasp of the product line,
pricing and sales recommendations. Because this franchise does
work in some of the most up-scale mansions in the Los Angeles and
Orange County regions, it is a benefit to know the material as
well as possible; even on the first week. I'm up to the task,
because I know how to study, but I want to be sure my confidence
level is right on top; our clients are successful people.

Uppers
The uppers for working with Closet Factory is the gratification to be working
with the best in the industry for this type of product. For those people who
want an alternative that ranges in quality from the very basic surfaced particle
board to the top-of-the-line solid wood with a custom,
stain-to-match-your-cabinets wood veneer, Closet Factory is the company to seek.

Downers
The most difficult aspects of any kind of outside sales job is
that there is a lot of driving involved, and that the paycheck is
commission. For those of us used to a steady paycheck, the
commission situation is very motivating. I got used to
commission work as a model, who was paid by the assignment. In
my experience, as long as the product is top-notch, and there is
a client base who desires the product, the downer is minimal.
Most of your jobs will go through and, if you ever reach a
plateau, a good manager will be available to offer a suggestion,
or some solace, that will help bring your job closings back up.

Lifestyle
The lifestyle works around your schedule, which is great if you want to go to
school, or be involved in activities within the 8 to 5 timeframe. It is a good
idea to consider the time and day when you first meet a client because it is
likely that, in the event that you need to do follow-up, the client is likely to
be available at the same day and time the following week.
|
Compensation
This position is commission sales and, for the first 90 days, the
commission rate is 10%. Most of our clients do not need
excessive discounting; they come to Closet Factory for the top
quality product. However; after we have sold the product with a
10% commission for 90 days we will be allowed to use a tool, in
moderation, that could decrease the commission by one or two
percent. When we get a job on a referral from a client we have
done a job for, we can get up to 16% commission, so it's a good
idea to ask the clients for referrals after they are completely
satisfied with their products from Closet Factory.

Advice to Jobseekers
Take the job at Closet Factory seriously. Put your best foot
forward and go with it. If you're selected, remember that a lot
of people were screened out so that you could get the job. Study
all the material thoroughly. Do not be so anxious to get the
dollar right away. If you need to take off a few days to review
the material, and be sure you know it before you go out on your
first call, go ahead and take off a few days to review and
study. The clients will appreciate it, and you will not be
the "beginner's luck" person. You will be there for the long-
term on a great job, doing wonderful work for quality clients.
