Uppers
-The hours do provide a little bit of flexibility which is good for people
working a second job, parents who need to pick their children up from school,
dr's appts, etc.
-This type of job seems to attract very caring and sympathetic people. No
matter where I move in the organization I seem to work with a great team.
-The pay is fair for the type/amount of work done. If an employee feels they
are not being paid enough there are channells to go through to have the job
evaluated.
-It's unionized so there is good job security and working conditions.
|
Downers
-The type of work can be stressful. Hearing so many people so
upset can get to the employees after a while.
-Some of the clientelle can be crude or violent, have explosive
tempers, be argumentative, etc. Sometimes it take a thick skin.
-The organization does tend to be a rumour mill. Many employees
have been around a long time, and have moved from office to
office. As a result, everyone knows each other.
|
Lifestyle
-Hours are generally 8:30-4:30 unless other arrangements are made.
-There isn't a lot of business travel unless it's to another site for a meeting.
-There are some opportunities to attend local conferences and workshops
-Training money is provided if you want to take a class or workshop to improve
yourself.
-Dress is business casual with casual day every pay-day (bi-weekly)
-It's a very social bunch so there are a lot of showers, stag and does, parties,
etc advertised.
-The company hosts a large Christmas dinner & party which is always a lot of fun
and run very well.

the future. Milage is paid for some employees who have to go

Advice to Jobseekers
It's certainly a job that will always be necessary. Although
it's tough to get into, it's certainly rewarding and I would
recommend anyone keep trying no matter how long it takes. It's
important to remember that no matter where you go in the
organization, new co-workers will know your old ones so don't
burn any bridges.
