Job Responsibilities
Customer Service, Market Analysis, Prospecting, Negotiating for both buyer and sellers, Develop and maintain lucrative relationships with key clientele. Oversee and communicate with home inspectors, appraisers, mortgage companies, attorneys, contractors, to ensure smooth transition throughout the process of all sales. Maintain and source new clients utilizing monthly postcards, quarterly newsletters, advertising, cold calling, etc, The hours spent each day and week is projected upon my seller's and buyer's needs.
Job Requirements
The classes you need to take for Real Estate are very demanding and high paste. You have alot of homework to accomplish in a short time. You need to be self disciplined. There is a 60 hour class, mid-term and final exam. Then you take two state exams. They are NOT easy. You have to make sure you are well prepared with studying. After you pass everything you are a licensed Realtor. There are continuing education classes you need to take every two years. There is also more classes and exams that you can chose to take to have more knowledge and recognition if we would like to.
Uppers
It is the most challenging and rewarding accomplishment to assist people in finding their dream home. Working with different people all the time is great. I don't have to punish a clock. I can make my own schedule to accomodate my families activities.
Downers
I have to work my schedule around my client's schedule sometimes. I have to work nights, weekends, and on occasion holidays.
Lifestyle
A realtor has to be extremely flexible, patient and willing to go the extra mile for their client. You need to be available to your clients all the time. You have to be very personalbe, friendly and outgoing. Willing to consult and advise on a moments notice. Be very organized, trust worth and develop a great repoor with clients.
Compensation
Your compensation is of course your commission that is earned when you sell a client's property and when you assist a buyer in a purchase of a property. The best benefit is establishing a awesome customer relationship and receiving referrals from them. That is how you gain business. By providing outstanding customer service, your client's will recommend you to their friends and families.
Advice to Jobseekers
Anyone wanting to enter this extremely diverse career, needs to be patient and willing to put alot of time and effort into it. You need to get yourself established and that doesn't happen over night. Hopefully you can hold down your present job while you fulfil your class requirements and for up to one year there after, because sometimes you don't earn money right away. However it does pay off. Some people get into this career path and expect to start making money right away and then they end up not persuing what they intended to originally do.
