Job Responsibilities
Distance and classroom instruction 75% of the time. Extensive travel in the US, Canada and the UK. Team Lead responsibilities for 4 teachers. Consulting on course content, instructional design, assessment development, and new business generation
Job Requirements
Corporate training of client teams involved in customizing proprietary software. Class size: 12 adults in a healthcare setting. Classes: vary from 2 - 5 days in length (8 hour days). Delivery: onsite with clients, onsite at corporate headquarters, distance with collaborative software and Citrix.
Uppers
Best: Seeing adults grasp the knowledge I bring and put it into practice while I am there or shortly after I leave Next best: Learning how clients use the software solutions my company produces. Second next best: Being paid to learn more about my organization's abilities to produce what a client thinks. Third next best: Able to teach and learn from home office when participating in distance courses.
Downers
Worst: The commute. Air, car, public transportation. Security checks, lost baggage, rude airline staff, poor airport food, the uncertainty of not knowing when I will end my week due to delays in air traffic, etc.
Lifestyle
One of 5000 employees who travels for their work. Often required to leave home on Sunday and occasionally do not get back until Saturday 1 a.m. Dress is professional because we teach on client sites. Must be a self starter who is disciplined. Willing to travel extensively and work alone often. Have an extensive team to support delivery of software, connectivity, class materials, tech support. Part of a team that listens to concerns, weighs suggestions against corporate imperatives, and takes action.
