Job Responsibilities
I currently work in the Student Processing Team. Our main role
is to process new claims for Youth Allowance and Austsudy
payments to customers who are undertaking approved study. We
also process ongoing reviews and assess ongoing entitlement for
customers already receiving these payments.

Uppers
The employment conditions are quite good where I work. The hours are very
flexible which is great for those who like to vary the start and finish times.
You can also take long lunches when you want to, provided that you make the time
up at a later date. The job pays quite well also.

Downers
Working for the governement you don't get too many benefits
other than the flexitime as mentioned above. We even have to
supply our own tea and coffee!!! You can sometimes just feel
like a number rather than a human being working for such a large
organisation, it can become very impersonal.
|
Lifestyle
The work hours are great, the can be negotiated which is good. There is very
little if any business travel unless you are at the management level. The
company doesn't hold any social events but most offices have their own social
clubs which staff volunteer their time to organise functions.

Compensation
Base salary starts at approx $25,000 for a customer service
officer in a governement position. There are no stock options.
Excellent superannuation benefits.
