Job Requirements
My program was in the College of Education, Workforce Education
and Lifelong Learning. The quality of the classes and
professors is outstanding. Most are recognized experts in their
field. I would highly recommend the program to anyone
interested in the field of Training and Development.

Uppers
I know that my work directly affects the quality of life that others achieve.
|
Downers
Very few...unless you count getting up at 5 AM to drive halfway
across the state!
|
Lifestyle
This position requires travel so work hours are by necessity flexible. Since I
work for a very small organization, no one is looking at the clock to see that I
put in my time. I dress appropriately for the task at hand, i.e. business dress
when presenting, casual when in the office working on materials.
|
Compensation
If you want to work for a non-profit, you must be willing to
work hard for low pay. The rewards are intrinsic. That said,
my salary is in the high 30's. There are no bonuses. I do get
a company car for travel so I'm not putting mileage on my
personal car.

Advice to Jobseekers
Working in organ, tissue, and eye donation is not for the
squeamish or faint of heart. You have to address end of life
issues honestly for yourself before you can teach others. It
also helps to have previous experience in a health care setting
and know people who have received transplants. It's pretty
competitive to get in, but once there, it's a great field.
