Job Responsibilities
Build and maintained raw materials usage forecasting
spreadsheet -- 20 hours per week.
Build and maintained finished goods usage forecasting
spreadsheet -- 20 hours per week.
Build month-end reports for upper management -- 10 hours per
week during the first week of every month.

Uppers
Easy job with easy hours. No need to pitch deals, or pitch sales at people -- I
just compiled reports and build spreadsheet models.
|
Downers
Poor compensation, poor applicability to non-manufacturing
career paths.
|
Lifestyle
Work hours = 40 per week usually; 50 per week at the end of the week when we had
to compile month-end reports. I never travelled, which I liked. Also, dress was
very casual -- most people wore jeans every day. Even upper management generally
never wore anything more formal than khakis. Diversity was disappointing. The
factory workers were all Latinos or Asians, while upper management were
Caucasians and Italians. There were not many women at the company.

Compensation
Base salary = $45,000
Quarterly bonuses averaged $500
We also had a 401K plan with matching up to 5%, HMO-based health
insurance, and a flexible spending account for medical expenses.

Advice to Jobseekers
Don't go into this field for the compensation. Rather, go into
the field because you are interested in the field, like the
company, or just plan to gain experience before leaving to do
something else.
