Job Responsibilities
In my current position, I work part-time as a sales associate for CPI Incorporated. My schedule is Monday- Friday 25hrs a week due to I am a student and attend school 3 nights a week at Allied Career Center. I am completing the Medical Business and Office Specialist Certificate program in February 2005. Collectively, I look forward to using my current knowledge and experience in Medical Administration. I see my part-time position to be an extension of my learned, acquired skills and 10yrs of Office Administration as a Manager/Supervisory positions. On a dily basis, I start the business day and open the studio as well as run reports, and cash management. I look at the appointments schedule for the day and write down my daily goals in order to meet our company objectives and daily sales goals. Meeting sales goals is all in the daily presentation, quality pictures you take, and customer service. Appointments can also be walkins as well. My customers and picture subjects range from all ages. On average, the session usually consists of taking 9 to 12 different poses and takes approximately 20 minutes. I must be able to work quickly with props, helping customers, make appts, answer the phones and diffuse negative situations- Change happens alot and continues throughout my day. After taking pictures, I then become a sale manager to my customers by providing the with options, packages, plans, and choices in which to enhance their memories and pictures. My average sale starts at $75.00. In addition, I always listening to customer needs, making suggestions, and finding the overall opportunity to invite them back. The sales presentation may sometimes take anywhere from 30-40 minutes. It is no comparison, our customers are made to take their time. Pictures are not just pictures, but an important decision in making your memories. I also ring my customers up remember their name and make sure that I mention it when saying thankyou. Most of all before they leave I am already asking them when they would like to schedule their next appointment, telling them about new specials and asking them to refer and tell all their friends about the wonderful experience, professional service and fabulous portraits they had done with us.
Job Requirements
Network, Network, and start looking ahead for companys you are seeking. Find a mentor and use all the resources available. Do your own research and go beyond look at your degree. What other industry might your skills be used. Classes are more demanding as with time, family and schedules. Plan accordingly and don't rush your classes to fit your own personal timeline of completion. This will allow you to focus and learn as well as retain the knowledge you have learned.
Uppers
Uppers in my job are the peoples lives I enrich on a daily basis and the personal satisfaction that comes from helping serve others. Motivate others to be the best they can be and most of all feel on top and most knowledgeable about what I do.
Downers
Downers in terms of jobs in general is flexibility in advancing at a steady pace or time frame sometimes you personally have set. Flexibility in terms of how you structure task and job projects meaning organizational structure. Companys should reward employees with mental rewards that speak more to morale such as WELL Days. These are days that you may be granted or given for outstanding jobs to be used like a personal day, but most effective in lessening employee attendance and call ins of a sick day.
Lifestyle
Diversity I think is the key and lifestyle especially working in a service industry. It is your smile, presentation, professional manner, and customer service that will help set you apart no matter what postion you are in. But most of all it is the catalyst that all organizations are looking for when hiring their next teamplayer. Dress should always be appropriate and according to company guidelines remember it is the little things that stand out. If you look good you project, act and feel good.
Compensation
Compensation and Benefits in the area of administration have been $37,000 + bonuses with a complete company package and benefits. However, negotiate your skills and pay accordingly , research areas, companies and assess your own personal value and level of skill to continue to increase in pay as your experience and knowledge and contributions can make your service and assets to any company be worth your salary. Continue and strive to take and active part in your company profits as well as your paycheck. Increases and profits can only lead to better opportunites in companys to provide bonuses, raises, and more employee options.
Advice to Jobseekers
To look for ways that your skills daily are used. Analyze simple life task and steps you to manage, complete, takecare of, delegate everyday functions. Tasks can be simple, but the lesson is in how you can better utilize your skills and apply them not only at work but at home as well. I think the job outlook in 2005 is positive and job prospects will have to continue to reevaluate and event themselves in looking outside the box and make themselves and learned, experience and current knowledge as a tool to create their own path, positions and needs within company structure.
