Uppers
Salary play an imporatant part in the position of my employment status at this time. My job involves alot of hard- labor along with mental stress, therefore salary means alot in my position.
Downers
I mix metal as a part of my Manager position at work. This is extremely dangerous and hot. Also, my work is mentally stressful when making decisions to hire or fire someone. I have to look at all aspects of the situation and all points of view before making my final decision.
Lifestyle
I work anywhere from 40-80 hours in any given week.I travel to gather information or I get into a 'saleman' mode to reqruit companys for more business for our corporation. Our dress code is basically casual including company uniforms, unless we have a client meeting, which is planned the day before.
Compensation
The base salary for a position for which I am in can depend on the level of skills and training that the applicant has before applying for this position.I worked my way up from 12 years at this company, where I started as just a 'helper'. I did the odds and ends of the other workers needs. At this present time my salary is standing at $80,000 Annually before taxes. There is the option of 401K, and Health Benefits.
Advice to Jobseekers
In my opinion, if you are interested in seeking a Profession in this catagory, (Foundry Manager/Metal Fabrication)you would have to start at the bottom of the ladder and work your way up. Salary may not be offered in the beginning, and you will need to work as many hours as possible. If overtime is permitted, work a few hours over to prove to your superior that you are reliable and hardworking.Always be ready and willing to learn anything new, like welding, sandblasting parts, etc.
