There are many good things about my work. It is still the entertainment
industry, so people trust you with their entertainment needs...It is fun to be
knowledgeable in the movie industry. Also, the company is very good to their
management. They offer benefits, retention bonus, incentives, fair vacation time
and great wages vesus the work load. The work schedule is also very flexible.

Dealing with the loss prevention part of the job, as there is
always that chance that something bad will happen, as it is in
all retail stores.

Lifestyle
There is a uniform that you wear, which makes it easy. The work week is rarely
over 40 hrs per week, and if it does go over, they allow you to take time in
lieu. We travel once a month to a district meeting, and there is also one
midnight Inventory shift per month. You must be a people person, and willing to
work nights, as this is when the store is busiest.

Compensation
I am currently making a salary of 42000 and I have been with the
company for 4 years, starting as an assistant manager at 25000.
We have retention bonuses of 4% of your salary, a great benefits
program, an incentive based bonus structure, and RRSP,s that they
contribute into dollar for dollar up to a certain amount.

Advice to Jobseekers
Blockbuster is always finding new ways to keep the company alive
and well. I think they adapt to changing markets very well and
that they will be around for a long time. As a job seeker, you
must bbe a people person, outgoing and friendly. You must be
willing to work night shifts and work with younger people when it
comes to CSR's as they are typically the ones looking for a job
in customer service.
