Job Responsibilities
My job responsibilties entail sales, leadership development, managing people and sales, processing transactions, and many others. Sales takes up a majority of my work day, working with customers to find their needs and get them the right products. At Best Buy they encourage my development, as a leader I spend about 3 hours a week in meetings discussing business plans and people development amongst managers and other supervisors. In my position I am required to make sure my fellow co-workers understand the values and goals of Best Buy and department specifics. With this I am able to develop others, find their strengths and weaknesses to develop them and get them to where they awant to be, through the sales process and business plans and goals. Processing transactions is one of the more simple things I do, ringing people through, and knowing the programs of Best Buy.
Job Requirements
The hiring process is three interviews. There are no minimum requirements for education in entry-level porsitions and mine. As you move up and get promoted they prefer management have some level of college courses, and degrees. Ideally they would prefer courses taken in business management or retail management.
Uppers
I get to work with a very diverse group of people everyday, customers and co-workers. I love selling! But I would have to say the best part of my job is that I get to do what I do best everyday, have fun while being the best!!!
Downers
Customer issues, I hate when they're not satisfied or when I can't do anything for them. I would say 80% of the time things are easily resolved, but when they are more difficult issues, it can take up a lot of time! I would much rather be making people happy then trying to resolve, or make a frustrated person happy.
Lifestyle
Hours of work depends on your position, I am a full time employee, therefore I work 40 hours a week. Travel, they don't require you travel in my position any further than the district office or other stores, within the state. We have employee gatherings at the store once every 3-4 months, where there are prizes, food, entertainment, it's to show appreciation to employees for their hard work, and to have fun together as friends and not just co-workers. Dress code is the provided blue shirt with khaki pants, brown/black shoes and belt, or business casual. Best Buy has a very diverse culture of people!
Compensation
Base salary is hourly until you get to management. Bonuses are provided to supervisors and management based on sales numbers. There is a bonus based on shrink and product losses once a year to all employees, it is an equal amount across the board entry- level to management, based on how much of the budget for product loss is left. Employees get 15% off stock during annual enrollment, you can have a percentage of your check taken out each payroll period, and you gradually gain stock options. Benefits are marvelous, they offer medical, dental, and vision to all full time employees. There are different levels of plans, so you can select based on your needs.

If you're a person who can step up and be a leader and drive sales number your opportunities can be endless with this company!
