Job Responsibilities
My responsibility involve assisting subscribers to our wireless service understand their bills, add or remove features to their cellular phone service or change the rate plan they are on. All of our responsibilities are geared towards giving customers total satisfaction in subscribing to our service. We also do sales in the sense that we try to sell benefits of additional services we have in line with other rate plans or other additional features they can add on to what they already have. I work 7.5 hours a day, five days a week totalling to 37.5 hours per week. Overtime work are always offered especially when the lines are busy.
Job Requirements
Educational requirements for this job is not very specific although good educational achievement and background is an asset in view of promotions. My background is bachelor or arts major in Philosophy. The workload is quite heavy because of the readings and paper works involved. This course demands critical thinking and the end result is having an analytical mind and way of thinking. Professors have very good qualifications as they need to understand academical subjects first before they can explain it to us.
Uppers
The best part of my job is the ease of fulfilling it. You only have to come to the office and after you leave in the afternoon you leave it completely behind you as you only do it in the work place. Also, getting to interact with diffent people every day is a plus as you get more insight, more exposure and you always remain sharp as you have to deal with different scenarions and issues all the time. The compensation is also good as it is a bit high than other industries and it is commensurate to the effort invested in the work.
Downers
Having to deal with irate callers is most of the time the downers of this job. Also, once you log in for the start of your shift you are pretty much tied up to your chair the whole day and you move from one call to the other with little time to breathe.
Lifestyle
I'd say this job does not involve travel at all because, as I said earlier, you fulfill this job at the work place on your chair in front of the computer. We do have a dress code in the office and to sum it up it is casual wear without being informal. The general atmosphere at the workplac is one that is relaxed, non discriminatory and cheerful. We are very diverse in the workplace and we help and respect each other.
Compensation
Base salary is $15 per hour but you get 2 - 3 % raise every year depending on your performance vis a vis your objectives. We usually receive an annual bonus depending on the overall performance of the company. We have stock options under the compnany's dividend reinvestment plan deducted from the salary and the company contributes 20% of what we contributed. We have dental and health benefits as well as life insurance. We also have educational assistance benefits where we get reimbursed up to a maximum of $1,500 per year if we take further studies.
Advice to Jobseekers
My advice for job seekers is not to look at this job as mediocre or average because its got potential. Looking into the future this industry is promising because it deals with technology and the more technology advances the more this job becomes well compensated and in demand.
